Dr. Joseph Macharia is a passionate environmental steward, a climate change specialist and voluntary carbon credits expert. Joseph is a strong advocate for Nature Based Solutions (NBS) geared towards achieving net zero carbon emissions. He has over 10 years’ experience working with smallholder farmers in the sub-Saharan Africa region, transforming lives. His work contributes to the improved soil fertility and health, improved crop yields and food security, improved biodiversity and climate resilience, and income generation from sale of carbon credits. Joseph has vast experience in research, development and advocacy in agriculture and climate change. He has previously worked and consulted for among others; One Acre Fund (current), The World Bank, AGRA, ASARECA, ECOM Trading, Africa Plant Nutrition Institute (APNI) & Africa Conservation and Tillage Network (ACT).
