Solutions for the Future

John Baya (33) wanted to farm but was faced with three obstacles: lack of water, lack of land and lack of capital.

Haller taught him how to build a borehole or dam for water. We then taught him how to grow more in less space. Now he farms vegetables, cassava, maize, cowpeas and kale. He already has plans for the proceeds.

“Once I have sold some of my vegetables, I will be able to build a fish pond, so I can have some fish and use the water to fertilise my crops.”
