After working in Mombasa, Jeremiah Tsuma (51) decided it was time to come home and help his community.

He is now the Assistant Chief for Bamburi sub-location and has seen his home – once stricken by poverty – transformed.

“Since Haller became our friend, there have been great changes here. The community now has a regular source of income and they are sustaining their children in school. The people are no longer idle, they now have a purpose because they know how to farm better, and we are slowly getting rid of food aid dependency. People are even coming here from the urban centre and building new homes. The projects are no longer Haller’s, they are ours now. In the future we will teach what we have learned to other communities in the area so that this is a good place to live.”
