Donate a phone to a farmer
Access to digital technologies has dramatically improved across Africa over the past decades. It is estimated that by 2025, 475 million people on the continent will be mobile internet users. Despite these steps towards progress, it remains true that the rural smallholder communities we aim to reach are also those most unlikely to have immediate access to mobile phones. Our partnership with Mara Phones aims to overcome this problem. Mara Phones have created the first high specification affordable smartphones manufactured in Africa. In addition to helping drive local economies, the company focuses on creating inclusive employment opportunities for women and young people.
Through our Donate a Phone to a Farmer campaign, the code 'Haller' can be used to receive a 10% discount on a Mara Phone, which is then sent to our offices in Mombasa. The Haller Farmers App is pre-downloaded onto the phone, and it is ready for distribution amongst the communities we support who have not yet had direct access to Africa's latest technological advancements. We aim to improve the accessibility and adoption of digital technologies and devices because we are aware of the tangible difference they can make to rural communities, especially through the distribution of educational material. By donating a phone to a farmer, you can play a role in providing poor rural farming communities with a digital infrastructure that unlocks a wealth of opportunities.
Through the educational information on the Haller Farmers App and other digital resources on the phone, people can not only sustainably improve their livelihoods but also strengthen the local economy through new trading communities established digitally. We are delighted to be able to partner with Mara Phones and place Haller's wealth of knowledge into the hands of those who will benefit from it most. To donate a phone to a farmer click here.
