Haller Prize 2016 - Where are they now?

A year on from the Haller Prize for Development Journalism 2016, let’s check in with some of the most recent winners! The Haller Prize for Development Journalism was created to promote African-led discussions around development and has been run three times.

Two of last year’s winners are now based in the UK and are working on projects based on the dissemination of information in sub-Saharan Africa,

Tinashe Musakavanhu, author of ‘Africa Manufacturing its own Hardware: BRCK – Internet in a box’, is currently studying for a PhD at the University of Kent and is working on a project called Reading Zimbabwe, designed to create a digital archive of written work about the country. Tatenda Chitagu, also from Zimbabwe, is now based in Oxford having won a journalism fellowship at the University of Oxford sponsored by the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism.
