Building on the success of the Haller Farmers web-app.

In 2014, we launched the Haller Farmers web-app with the ambition to scale up our impact and empower rural farming communities across East Africa. Before the end of 2016, the Haller Farmers Web App was a finalist in BT and Abilitynet’s Tech4Good Awards and had been visited by over 30,000 people from over 125 countries worldwide.

Its impact was extensive and achieved well beyond our initial expectations. We saw this as just the beginning.

For the past decade, the technological revolution has been advancing with haste across Africa. With this in mind, we have recently launched a brand new Haller Farmers smartphone app, which is available to download for free, from the Google Play Store. The new app leverages the the increasing penetration of mobile technology to promote sustainable growth across both landscapes and communities.

Similar to the web-app, Haller Farmers has been designed with rural farming communities in mind – it is available in English and Swahili and is accompanied by Swahili audio to overcome illiteracy challenges. Haller Farmers remains lightweight, is accessible offline, and all of the techniques includes are low cost and organic, making them widely replicable and in turn more desirable to the millions of small-scale farmers in Africa.

The original Haller Farmers web-app has now been disconnected and we continue to direct farmers to our new and improved mobile-application.

You can download it from Google Play here.
